For me Deadwood was the greatest thing ever to be on the small screen and hopefully that movie gets made soon enough. Each person tells me they have their own favorites of the 3 seasons and S1 usually is picked as the best. Season 2 adds on to one of the storylines from season 1 and brings a new storyline that adds onto the great battle for Deadwood in Season 3. I wouldn't say Deadwood was suppose to put you at the edge of your seat but instead it has moments filled with excellent dialogue and characters that you'll never want to stop watching. As for Breaking Bad it's more about storytelling in the sense that there will be excitement each episode. I don't want to get into Soprano spoilers but it does have some great storylines that make each season memorable for being about something different since you'll see Joe Patolianno in two seasons and Steve Buscemi in one season. When signing up for either of the above options, you’ll also need to add the HBO add-on to watch every episode of Deadwood. The Sopranos was more about what's next for Tony Soprano, he has no story about getting somewhere just about living his life and how he handles certain mob problems. What I mean by this is that there isn't and on going storyline, Walter White making Meth and becoming a kingpin, it's more about new things that come to the world of Deadwood. I don't want to spoil but Deadwood isn't like Breaking Bad it's more like The Sopranos. Stream Season 3 Episode 12 of Deadwood: Tell Him Something Pretty online or on your device plus recaps, previews, and other clips. Even at its worst, it's still worth watching once. I just think there is a definite drop off in quality.įor what it's worth, on my first watch I did drop it after a couple episodes into S2, but I gave it another shot a year or two later and I'm glad I did. And I hate to say it but I'm glad it ended when it did.Īgain, I do really enjoy the show overall. Too many extraneous characters with too few interesting arcs. And in terms of plot pacing, I do think there is a lull from 1/2 - 3/4 of the way through until the end game really starts to take shape. Too often it borders on unrealistic and flat-out pretentious.
So much of the dialogue in S2 and S3 is blatantly contrived to aim for the Shakespearean comparisons that its first season garnered. It looks like people will disagree with me here, but I think the praise for the dialogue in S1 went to the writers' heads. Let me preface this by saying that overall I love the show and I visited this sub solely because I'm about to rewatch it.
